In an interview, actress Katherine Heigl, who plays "Firefly Lane" and "Grey's Anatomy" actress shared her body didn't matter to her. But after speaking to her adopted sister from South Korea about how society was treating them, she became conscious of the differences they were. "I asked Meg whether she felt that she was treated differently when going out with our parents and those who went out on her own. Meg replied "Oh I do, each and every occasion!" Heigl revealed to Parents that this made her realize how foolish she was. According to the actress, she became angered. But, she was determined to channel that anger towards aiding her adopted daughters. Heigl is the mother of a 4-year-old son with her 13-year spouse, Josh Kelley. The couple took in Nancy Leigh (age 12) from South Korea and Adalaide (age 8) and is black, in 2009.
